Am I Allowed to Work During Removal Proceedings?

Some persons who are in deportation proceedings are still able to legally work while the proceedings are pending. For instance, if you applied for Asylum and/or Withholding of Removal, Cancellation of Removal, NACARA, Adjustment of Status, DACA or TPS you can apply for work authorization while your case is pending. Typically, you will be unable to work while the federal government gathers biographical information from you and your fingerprints, in order to ensure that you are not a threat to national security. Only after you have submitted all of the requested information and the authorities have cleared you through all of the necessary background checks, you will become eligible for work authorization.

A removal case often can take years and permission to work can be essential to supporting yourself and your family. I will advocate on your behalf so that you can continue working, if at all possible.
